Lizette Botha has more than twenty three years’ experience in the teaching of water safety for babies, young children as well as water aerobics.

She completed a BA Human Movement Science degree at the University of Pretoria and successfully managed her own swimming school (Aqua Kid) for thirteen years in Nelspruit and surrounding areas. As versatile sports woman, she holds provincial colours in hockey as well as athletics and successfully completed the Comrades Marathon three times.

As well-known figure in Learn-to-Swim circles in Mpumalanga, she was often invited to deliver talks about water safety. Because of her wide area of expertise general practitioners, medical specialists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists in the Lowveld readily referred patients to her. Her services were also regularly used by schools, nursery schools, schools for the disabled as well as prenatal associations.

Although Lizette’s first love is teaching water safety to babies and toddlers she also specialises in stroke correction for competitive swimmers. Many of her young Learn-to-Swim pupils subsequently have developed into successful provincial swimmers. Both her daughters (age 12 and 14) are provincial swimmers since the age of 8yrs old. Mikal, the 14yr-old, has also been included in the SA Junior Squad for preparation for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.

Lizette is registered as a Swimming Coach and Learn-to-Swim Instructor with Swimming South Africa and in recent years also acted as the Learn-to-Swim programme coordinator for Swimming South Africa in Mpumalanga.

She recently resigned as Head Coach from Ryk Neethling Swimming Schools in Faerie Glen and has now set up her new Swim School, Kiddie's Aqua Academy, at Life's Journeys, 706 Jacques street Moreletapark, Pretoria.
